Email alerts from Job Centre Plus

It’s great that email alerts have been added to the Job Centre Plus website, the downside is you are only allowed to create an email alert for one search. This to me is a huge oversight as on the jobseekers agreement you sign there are 3 job categories along with their SOC codes, which I use to conduct my search on the site.

You would have thought inline with the jobseekers agreement, they would allow you to at least save 3 email alerts for each of the categories. You are still fulfilling one of the steps on the jobseekers agreement, because you still have to click on the link to see the vacancy.

I would love to see this problem rectified, even though they are years behind everyone else.

Peopleserve replacement

Okay, I might be a little pushy on this issue, however a week on since my last post about peopleserve.

Still no news on who is replacing peopleserve. I know that Serco still have the contract for my area, peopleserve where their subcontractors under the Flexible New Deal.

So come on someone pull their fingers out and send letters out, even if it’s just a letter saying who the new company is. I would assume this new company would be using the same systems as before, but obviously because of data protection issues peopleserve would have been forbidden from passing on our details to any new company, even though we did sign an agreement before. So this would be down to the DWP/JCP to pass our details on.

Amazon coming to Rugeley

I know I’m quite late to report this. However the huge online retailer Amazon are opening a distribution warehouse on the outskirts of Rugeley. I did have a look on their website, but it seems the only jobs on there at the moment are web design, IT and office roles.

I did watch a segment on one of the local news programmes that Amazon are going to be in talks with the local job centres how they’re going to advertise for further roles.

I’ll definitely be applying for one of the jobs.
